Ska giants Reel Big Fish are scheduled to begin their worldwide tour on October 30th in Brazil in support of its upcoming 10-track album of cover songs Fame, Fortune and Fornication.
Between October and March, the band will be everywhere from Argentina and Mexico to the UK and Russia.
The new album, available beginning January 20 of next year, will include covers of Tom Petty, The Eagles and Van Morrison, among others.
Weezer recently posted a bulletin on iLike, which is their version of putting a face on a milk carton.
It says:
"We are trying to locate a female student that was in Rivers’ English 97 Sophomore Writing Tutorial with Professor Nancy Yousef in the Spring of 1997 at Harvard. If anyone remembers the women in this class (or if you were in the class with Rivers), please contact us immediately. Note: the surest way to contact us is via email: karl@weezer.com"
It was around so briefly, you may have thought you dreamt the whole thing up, but now three of the four members of the pop-band known as Dream are reuniting, and even making music again!
Now you might not even remember the all-female, song and dance foursome Dream, especially if you were not a fan of the teen-pop/boyband genre. (Honestly, who wasn't?) Just in case you don't here's a quick refresher course.
Puff Daddy (as he was known at the time) signed Dream to his record label in 1999
The band's first single "He Loves You Not" peaked at #2 on the U.S. singles charts in 2001.
Dream opened for both Britney Spears and 'N Sync in 2001.
Original member, Melissa Schuman, who actually was the first to quit the band, apparently tried to reunite all four original members, but when that didn't work, she decided to start up a new project with Ashley Poole and Diana Oritz, also original members. The new band is known as Lady Phoenix.
Meanwhile, taking over the Dream namesake, are two teen girls named Jordan McCoy and Hunter Pecunia. They are holding auditions for new members via YouTube. To enter, send in a video of yourself singing and dancing to www.youtube.com/officialdreamtv.
Check out the video of the new Dream singing Rhianna's "Disturbia!"
I admit I haven't made it through this entire song/video yet. I think that maybe if they took the "lovebug" part out of this song, it may be halfway decent.
You can preview two tracks from the upcoming album, All Aboard: A Tribute to Johnny Cash, by clicking here. The songs that are streaming on the website are the Flatliners' cover of "Cry, Cry, Cry" and Onguard's cover of "Give My Love to Rose."
The tribute album, which will have 16 Johnny Cash songs covered by various artists will be available to the public on October 21st.
